Waiakea’s Ciera Min overcame cold, rainy weather to fire a 73 to capture the girls individual medalist honors Monday at Volcano Country Club.

Min had nines of 37 and 36 for her one-over par 73 in the Big Island Interscholastic Federation golf meet.

Min finished eight shots ahead of runner-up Kiana Lumanlan of Kamehameha who carded an 81. Waiakea’s Andi Igawa shot an 83 to place third while teammate Megan Kimura was fourth with an 87. St. Joseph’s Tiara Inoue rounded out the top five with a 91.

The Warriors had a 243 total to beat Hilo (315) for the girls’ title.

Waiakea’s Chad Suzuki (40-37) claimed individual medalist honors for the boys, shooting a 77 to edge Hilo’s Davin Yagi (36-42—78) by a stroke. Hawaii Prep’s Andrew Paisley was third with an 80, Konawaena’s Ho‘eu‘eu Greenwell fourth with an 81 and Kamehameha’s Cody Pereira fifth with an 83.

Waiakea had a 337 total to take top boys team honors, followed by Hilo (347), Kamehameha (354) and Hawaii Pprep (355).

Rounding out the top 10 were:

• Girls: Nani Yanagi, Waiakea, 92; Taylor Kaaihili, Kamehameha, 98; Amanda Loeffler, Hilo, 104; Channing Waugh, Hilo, 105; and Kelsy Nishimura, Hilo, 106.

• Boys: Casey Nakatsu, Hilo, 84; Coby Iida, Waiakea, 84; Ryley Chong, Konawaena, 85; Kris Ishibashi, Waiakea, 85; and Jake Siebert, Hawaii Prep, and Steve Kim, Kealakehe, 86.

The next BIIF meet will be held April 5 at Waikoloa Village, starting at 11 a.m.
